‘This is the 14th annual Utah Foster Care Chalk Art festival. We do this every year to engage with the community and to promote awareness about foster care and to help spread the word about kids that are in need. There are a lot of myths that surround foster care…that it’s scary…that the kids are really bad. Families can be nervous about what foster care involves and the unknowns. I think people really need to remember that these are just kids. They’re not in foster care because of anything they’ve done wrong. They just need good families to support them while they work their way through their traumas or challenges. I think everybody likes to have a second chance and deserves an opportunity to come back all the better regardless of what they’ve experienced.’
