‘I’m currently taking a Humanities 1100 class and I’m working on a photography/architecture project of the Salt Lake Temple and other buildings. I have a very strong Mormon background. I’m of Polynesian descent. My grandfather went from Tonga to Hawaii at a young age to build up the town of Laie. He helped to build the university and the temple there. When he got to Laie, there was nothing there…it was just a swampland. Now it’s a beautiful place. He was one of the first men authorized to seal families in the temple in Laie. He played the drums at the Polynesian Cultural Center and he was a teacher at BYU-Hawaii. I have a special heritage and I’m doing this project to honor that.’
