As I walk the freezing streets of our city, I sometimes see and photograph interesting small spaces…alleys between buildings, spaces under stairwells, and the like…and I’m planning a series of those images soon. In the meantime, I couldn’t resist photographing this poor dead dresser in an alley. The first time I saw it a few days ago or so, it was piled, rather unceremoniously, on top of a shopping cart. To see it now, so forlorn and abandoned, was both thought-provoking, (where did it come from and to whom did it belong? What events in a person’s life happened around it?)…and, at the same time, somewhat bewildering in a ‘what the heck is this doing here anyway’ kind of way…oh well, this is Salt Lake City, folks…guess you never know what you’re gonna find!
