‘I’m from New York state and flew in to Salt Lake City last June and ended up homeless but the Mormon church and the Homeless Youth Resource Center have helped me out a lot. I’m blessed to be here today because of them and I can’t say enough about them and how good they’ve been to me. The hardest part about being here has been finding a stable place to live and trying to keep a stable job. I’m currently in housing with the Volunteers of America and I work at Jimmy John’s and I’m looking for more work. Getting back on my feet is going to be great. I’m going to get my own place for me, my girlfriend, and our two-year old son. In the back of my mind, I don’t take anything for granted anymore. I keep people in my prayers and I try to help people I meet. I know my prayers are being answered because I’m here and I’m alive. My girlfriend and I are going through some tough times right now, but we’re doing the best we can for our son. My father hasn’t really been in my life at all and I want to raise the bar and be there for my son. He deserves better than what I got.’
