mar10‘Being a freelance mechanic means that I can make my own hours and subcontract. I have no bills or overhead. That’s what people did in the seventies and eighties. Nowadays, there’s this idea that you have to have a big garage with big machines, a bunch of overhead, fancy signs, and hire a bunch of people to be successful. I think it’s about being free-spirited and without formula. I’ve never listened to people telling me what I can’t do. I do what I think I can do. I got a lot of that structured negativity growing up…being told to go to college, get a job, get a mortgage. I’d rather buy land and build my own house. From a young age, I’ve understood that I can do it on my own and how I choose and that’s what I’m going to do.’
